NEOVAC GmbH was founded in 2021 as a joint venture between SITIZN Group/AG² and SMS group. The aim of the company is to develop innovative vacuum coating systems and processes for metal strips.
The SITIZN Group/AG² acts as a business angel and supports companies in developing advanced technologies for thin film and plasma applications. AG² (Advanced Galvanization) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the SITIZN Group and has been developing the fundamentals of Zn-PVD technology since 2008.
The SITIZN Group/AG² contributed this long-standing expertise to the joint venture with the aim of developing it into an industry standard together with the SMS group.
SMS group is a leading global supplier along the entire value chain of the steel industry. As a family-owned company headquartered in Düsseldorf (Germany), SMS focuses on quality and innovation.
The SMS group is the main shareholder in the joint venture and has decades of experience in the planning and construction of flat steel production plants.
SMS group's product portfolio for flat steel covers the entire production chain, including industrial plants for the hot and cold rolling of flat steel as well as coating plants that use electric and hot-dip galvanizing processes. In view of the steadily increasing demand from end customers for coated flat steel, it was a logical step for SMS group to establish itself in the field of vacuum coating. Because only this process is able to meet these requirements.
